Tesla Cybercab is not currently available to buy or ride in the UK. Tesla started US production in 2026 and now offers limited Cybercab rides in Austin, Texas, but it has not announced a UK release date, UK price or British trial. This guide tracks what Tesla has confirmed and what remains unknown.
What is the Tesla Cybercab?
Cybercab is Tesla's purpose-built electric Robotaxi. Unlike a Model 3 or Model Y, it has no steering wheel or pedals. Passengers request a trip using Tesla's Robotaxi app and control the doors, climate, seating and media from the app or the central touchscreen.
Tesla describes it as a two-seat vehicle with powered butterfly doors, bench-style seating and space for two standard check-in suitcases plus two carry-on cases. The company's current Cybercab support page says the vehicle uses camera vision and sensors to navigate streets, motorways, intersections and car parks autonomously.

Tesla has now published physical measurements in its official Cybercab Rider Guide. Battery capacity, motor output, charging speed and driving range have not been published.

When is Tesla Cybercab coming to the UK?
There is no confirmed UK Cybercab release date. Tesla's UK website discusses Cybercab as part of its autonomous future, while warning that Full Self-Driving features depend on regulatory approval. It does not announce a Cybercab service, trial or order date for Britain. See Tesla's current UK Full Self-Driving page.
The legal route is developing. In May 2026, the Department for Transport opened applications for companies to run approved taxi- and bus-style self-driving passenger services in Great Britain, with journeys potentially beginning during 2026. Every operator and vehicle must pass the required safety and approval checks. This is a general pilot framework—not evidence that Tesla has applied or that Cybercab has been approved. The wider Automated Vehicles Act framework is expected to be implemented in the second half of 2027. A realistic UK launch therefore depends on Tesla's own plans as well as vehicle certification, automated-driving authorisation and permission to operate a passenger service.
Has Cybercab production started?
Yes. Tesla said pilot production began in the first quarter of 2026. In its second-quarter update, the company said production had started and that engineering test drives of production Cybercabs were taking place on public roads. Tesla's latest public information says Cybercab rides are available only in limited parts of Austin. Its broader US Robotaxi service also uses Model Y vehicles in several cities. Production in America does not establish a UK launch timetable.
How much will Cybercab cost?
Tesla has not published a final purchase price in the US or UK. There is no UK configurator, deposit, finance illustration or delivery estimate. Tesla's US FAQ lets people register interest in buying an individual Cybercab or a fleet for commercial purposes, but this is an enquiry form—not a normal retail order page.
Until Tesla publishes a binding price, tax treatment and commercial terms, any price quoted elsewhere should be labelled as an estimate or an earlier target rather than the confirmed selling price.

Practical details passengers should know
- Two people maximum: Cybercab is aimed at solo travellers and couples rather than larger families.
- Luggage: the 572-litre rear boot is large for a two-seat vehicle and Tesla says it can hold four typical travel cases.
- Children: current US service rules allow ages 13–17 only when accompanied by an adult; children under 13 cannot ride.
- Child-seat fittings: the current vehicle does not have a LATCH/ISOFIX system. Tesla's guide says any permitted booster must use the seat belt.
- Accessibility: Tesla lists wheelchair-height seating, space for mobility equipment and service animals, Braille controls, and supplementary audio and visual features.

When will Tesla Cybercab launch in the UK?
Tesla has not announced a Cybercab launch date for the UK. Great Britain now has a permit route for approved self-driving passenger-service pilots, but Cybercab would still need the relevant vehicle, safety and operator approvals.
