UK Tesla Superchargers currently average around 55p/kWh for Tesla owners (range: 40p–67p depending on location). A typical 20–80% top-up on a Model Y Long Range costs around £24.75. Prices are charged per kWh and billed automatically through your Tesla account — no card required at the charger.
Current UK Supercharger pricing
Tesla Supercharger pricing in the UK is set per kWh and varies by location. As of February 2026, the average across UK Supercharger sites is approximately 55p/kWh for Tesla account holders. The range typically runs from 40p/kWh at quieter urban sites up to 67p/kWh at motorway services locations.
Tesla changed from per-minute pricing to per-kWh billing in 2019. This benefits faster-charging vehicles and makes costs more predictable.
Non-Tesla EV drivers can now use Tesla Superchargers in the UK via the Tesla app or a payment card, but pay a higher rate — typically around 77p/kWh. Some sites also charge a connection fee.
Supercharger prices can change at any time and vary by time of day. The Tesla app shows real-time pricing before you plug in.

Supercharger vs home charging
Home charging at the Ofgem Q1 2026 rate of 27.69p/kWh costs roughly half the price of a Supercharger session at 55p/kWh.
For a driver doing 200 miles per week in a Model Y Long Range (3.7 mi/kWh):
- Home charging only: ~£759/year
- Supercharger only: ~£1,541/year
- Mixed (80% home, 20% SC): ~£915/year
The best strategy for most UK Tesla owners is to charge at home overnight for daily driving and use Superchargers only on longer journeys.

Why does Supercharger pricing vary by location?
Tesla sets pricing based on local electricity procurement costs and the cost of installing and maintaining the infrastructure at each site. Motorway service stations typically charge more due to higher land rental and electricity costs. Urban Superchargers with lower footfall tend to be cheaper.
How long does a Tesla Supercharger session take?
A typical 20–80% charge takes 20–40 minutes depending on the model and whether the site has V2 or V3 Superchargers. V3 chargers (up to 250 kW) are significantly faster — on a compatible Model 3 or Model Y, they can add up to 170 miles of range in around 15 minutes. V2 chargers peak at 150 kW and are slower.
Do you need a Tesla account to use a Supercharger?
Tesla owners need a Tesla account linked to their car. Charging is billed automatically through the app — no card tap required. Non-Tesla EV drivers can use the Tesla app to start a session and pay by card or through the app.
